Being a teen means often means one thing … being able to drive. But before we allow our teens to get behind the wheel, it’s important to teach them responsibly. Driving accidents are the No. 1 cause of death among young adults ages 16 to 21, with 79 percent of those accidents being caused by distractions such as talking or texting on the phone or using an MP3 player. These accidents can easily be avoided through education and a friendly conversation. Also as parents, it’s important to set a good example by practicing the same good driving behaviors. Remember, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
